Answers to all your mobile notary service questions:

What is a mobile notary?
The only difference in a Mobile Notary Public and a traditional Notary Public is Mobile Notary Publics travel to the location of the signer to provide the notarization service.  Notarization still requires personal presence of both the signer and the Notary Public. We have the flexibility to travel to businesses, homes, hospitals, jail, and other locations during and after business hours. The traditional process of obtaining a notarization would require the signer to locate and travel to the office of a Notary Public during their traditional business hours. Mobile notaries like Ventura Mobile Notary Service have revolutionized the process by providing flexibility and convenience, to accommodate special requests.

Why is mobile notary more costly than traditional notary public office?
Providing mobile notary public services at all times of the day and into the night, the convenience, and the exclusive attention to your documents are all worth paying marginally more for our services.  Fees are generally composed of a notary charge and a travel fee.

Can California Notaries Public perform a notarial act without the physical appearance of the signer (Remote Online Notarization such as "Docusign")?
California Law does not provide the authority for California notaries public to perform a remote online notarization. The personal appearance of the document signer is required before the notary public. This is a distinct advantage for those that wish to have their documents notarized remotely. California recognizes notarial acts performed outside of California if it is taken in accordance with the law of the place where the acknowledgment is made. (California Civil Code 1189(b)).

What can a California Notary Public Do and Not Do:

A notary public can:
• Attest documents and certify their execution for use in the USA and certain other countries.
• Certify Powers of Attorney, contracts, deeds, wills and other legal documents.

• Administer oaths for local and international documents.
• Witness signatures to statutory declarations, powers of attorney, affidavits, contracts and other legal documents
• Certify copy of documents for use in the US and certain other countries.

Can Any Document Be Notarized?
Most documents can be notarized. One area of exception is with
vital records -- birth, marriage and death certificates. We as notaries can't make or certify copies of these vital records. You must go to the government agency that originally issued the certificate to get copies.

A notary public cannot:
• Offer legal advice to clients, or modify any terms on a document.
